Cannabinoids have been used in Eastern medicine for many years as pain relievers. The cannabinoid receptors can be distinguished by their amino acid sequences, signaling mechanisms, and tissue distributions. Both receptors belong to the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily.
