The amino acid Glycine exerts its action by binding on post-synaptic Glycine Receptors. When the Glycine Receptor is activated, the resulting Cl^– flux generally results in a hyperpolarization of the postsynaptic membrane thereby stabilizing the resting potential and inhibiting neuronal firing.
