Extracellular antibodies are ideal research tools for cell-surface proteins.
No permeabilization/fixation because using extracellular antibodies allows you to work with live cells!
Benefits of live cell imaging:
✓ Monitor cell movement
✓ Study protein transport across the cell
✓ Investigate protein internalization
The amino acid Glycine exerts its action by binding on post-synaptic Glycine Receptors. When the Glycine Receptor is activated, the resulting Cl– flux generally results in a hyperpolarization of the postsynaptic membrane thereby stabilizing the resting potential and inhibiting neuronal firing. The glycinergic response mediates inhibitory neurotransmissions in the spinal cord, brainstem and retina, and is essential for reflex responses, the processing of sensory signals as well as voluntary motor control in the mammalian CNS.
