Overview
- Peptide SYYGTVRYGALELC, corresponding to amino acid residues 159-172 of mouse Galanin receptor type 3 (Accession O88853). 2nd extracellular loop.
- Western blot analysis of rat brain membrane:1. Anti-GALR3 (extracellular) Antibody (#AGR-013), (1:200).
2. Anti-GALR3 (extracellular) Antibody, preincubated with GALR3 (extracellular) Blocking Peptide (#BLP-GR013).
- Expression of Galanin receptor 3 in rat hippocampusImmunohistochemical staining of rat hippocampus using Anti-GALR3 (extracellular) Antibody (#AGR-013). A. Galanin receptor 3 (green) appears in apical dendrites of pyramidal neurons in CA1 (arrows). B. MAP2 (red), a marker of axons and dendrites, is stained in the same section. GALR3 appears to be expressed in a subset of apical dendrites (arrows). DAPI is used as the counterstain (blue).
- Cell surface detection of Galanin receptor 3 by indirect flow cytometry in live intact human THP-1 monocytic leukemia cells:___ Cells.
___ Cells + goat-anti-rabbit-APC.
___ Cells + Anti-GALR3 (extracellular) Antibody (#AGR-013), (2.5μg) + goat-anti-rabbit-APC.

Galanin is a neuropeptide, consisting of 29-30 amino acid residues, involved in the regulation of cognition, mood, feeding, seizure activity and pain. Galanin exerts its action via three known receptors, the Galanin receptor type 1 (GALR1), Galanin receptor type 2 (GALR2) and Galanin receptor type 3 (GALR3). The Galanin receptors belong to the G-protein coupled receptor superfamily.1-4
Based on mRNA, the GALR1 is predominantly distributed in the central nervous system, spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia while GALR2 is abundant in both central and peripheral nervous systems. GALR3 mRNA is distributed in peripheral tissues such as the heart, spleen, and testis. However, its expression in the brain is still controversial.4,5

Anti-GALR3 (extracellular) Antibody (#AGR-013) is a highly specific antibody directed against an epitope of the mouse Galanin receptor 3. The antibody can be used in western blot and immunohistochemistry applications. It has been designed to recognize GALR3 from mouse, rat, and human samples.
