Scientific background
WS 3 is a synthetic, selective TRPM8 channel agonist with an EC50 value of 3.7 μM1,3.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+-permeable channel, a member of the ‘long' or melastatin (M) group of TRP proteins and is activated by temperatures or by cooling compounds such as icilin, menthol and eucalyptol. The TRPM8 gene is expressed and is up-regulated in prostate cancer and other malignancies. It is specifically expressed in temperature-sensing trigeminal and dorsal root ganglion neurons1-3.

Applications
Our Bioassay
Our bioassay
- Alomone Labs WS 3 activates TRPM8 channel expressed in HEK-293 cells.Dose response curve for the activation of human TRPM8 by increseaing WS 3 (#W-100) concentrations. EC50 is estimated at 0.43 µM. Cells were loaded with Calcium-5 dye. Changes in intracellular Ca2+ were detected via changes in 485 nm/525 nm fluorescence following agonist application.
